I'm about to buy this
http://www.cuchillosyarara.com.ar/k...itares-tacticos-supervivencia/asae-601-detail

it's made of SAE 6150, wich supposedly it'sa high carbon steel with cro and van.
I know that it's a copy of mark II, wich I think is 420hc.

The question is, assuming the same design and intended purpose, wich steel would be better for a dagger?
I have hold the sae 6150 and it felt very light, kinda too light.

It's indifferent, meaning it's possible to attain good results with both types of steel?
Or the high carbon steel not stainless it's not a good choice for the design and purpose?

I have red here that such steel would be better for a small folder, and such other better for a large chopper, etc.
It's there some similar criteria about the proper steel for this dagger?

Thank you in advance.

But seriously, any steel with decent toughness works fine for a dagger. Daggers are for killing, and flesh is many times softer than all steels are, so you mostly want a blade that'll take an edge and not break under rough use. For utility uses a single edged blade is much more practical.

Its much better steel for dagger than stainless 420.
It is spring steel, in Poland it would be named 50hf.
Very tough, and toughness is what you need in dagger - because of narrow point

thanks Idaho.
You know, I have studied at the univerdity of the jagellions in Cracovia, Poland. Never actually been there, the teachers traveled to my country and you would attend to classes for a 3 month period, then submit an investigation paper, and they would certified you by that university. In there is were Johnn Paul II studied, also.
Congrats on being from poland, a very though nation, pun intended. RESPECT!
