Well to start at the begining my grandfather died in Feb. and he left a lot of silver coins. I sold them and I plan to save most of the money, but while it might be just and excuse to get another knife, I wanted to get somthing that I could use and think of him when I see it. I origianly wanted a Randall made(model 3 or 5), but 5 years is a long time and I dont know if I want to spend the money to get on right away(off ebay or ect.). My other thought was somekind of folder. One that was build good and would last for under $300. Somthing like a ZT301 or mabey for a little bit more $ a sebenza. My question now is are the randalls made strong and well enough to use a lot or are they more of a collector item? Also how does the 0-1 steel randall uses preform? If anyone has any pictures of a randall model 3 or 5, or the ZT and sebenza I would like to see them and hear your advice.
Thanks.

I'd get the ZT 0551 instead of the 0300; it doesn't have a torsion bar to break.

Also, hope you saved at least a few of the silver coins; they'd make a nice memento.

Hi Nathan! Did your grandad carry a pocket knife? If so, I think it would be super-classy if you picked up something that would honour him...

Good luck! :)

Sorry to hear about the passing of your grandfather. I have never used a Randall, but have the other two. The ZT is a very beefy knife that should last a long time. In my experience, I've found that it is a little too big for my everyday needs. The weight alone makes it difficult to carry on a daily basis. The Sebenza is a great knife and holds it's value pretty well. You can't go wrong with one if you are willing to spend the money for it. If you are looking for something cheaper, find a nice alox handled SAK. They are some of the most reliable/dependable knives you can own and last a lifetime as long as they are cared for.

i think the small sebenza would be a great choice. its small n light enough u can easily carry it everyday. if u decide to go with a sebenza i would contact the company and see if you could get a born on date with his birth month and day assuming it lands between monday and thursday for the next year or two.
