I forged this one last winter and it was sitting on my shelf since then.
I wanted to finish it, but there was always something more important or urgent to do.
Temperatures are really high here, around 100F, so i'm trying to avoid forging as much as i can.
So, i finally had some extra time to work on this one, and now it looks like this.
There is subtle, barely visible hamon line. I wanted to etch it really dark and i'm quite happy with the result. It has nice distal taper and great balance.
I had this matching piece of deer antler just waiting for this blade. I used Potassium permanganate to give it antique look in combination with hammered brass pins.
I really like how it looks and fits in hand. It feels wicked
I still need to make a sheath, and i plan to use antler crown from this piece, as a part of it.
More pictures to come.
