A very talented friend, Primitive skills enthusiast and forum member sent me a very special gift.. I don;t know if he wants to be named or not, so I'll let him step up if he wants
. But I just thought I'd share this cool package.
He knows that I am a traditional archery enthusiast (read as likes bows but can;t shoot LOL)
The craftsmanship is excellent..
and sent me a hand made primitive bow, arrows and quiver complete with a napped tip

I have not shot it yet as I have to put 2 more coats of linseed oil on it. But I'll report back when I do
My pan is to do my friend honor by taking some small game with it before the end of Feb.
I know this is gear related but since it is hand made primitive equipment I thought it might fall under skills as well
Thanks for looking

Beautiful work, the quiver is outstanding.
I can see why you want to get that bow into use.

Very cool!
The workmanship looks great.
Cant wait to see some pics of you shooting it

to the maker and friend....Nice work!

That is a great gift! Thanks for putting up the pics, it looks awesome!

I have never met a more gifted person than you John. I don't mean gifted as you are talented or anything, I mean gifted as people are always sending you free stuff....

Excellent gift, and who ever sent you that is a very talented and kind fella!

Glad you like it!
I'm really happy with how that one came out, that yellow Ochre pigment makes the red oak bow look like osage.
I have a couple pics that are a bit sharper.
The top one is an overview of the end of one limb and shows the black dyed squirrel strip silencer for the string. The bottom two show the handle (with ornamental squirrel feet) from back and belly side of the bow. The wood is red oak but it was dyed yellow.
