I have had a Wicked Edge Pro Pack 1 for about two years now. I have sharpened many knives and resharpened a few I use a lot multiple times. I have found that I can now start with the 800 grit stones, quickly move to the 1000 grit and then use sandpaper taped to the stones to get a mirrored finish before stropping if desired. Knowing exactly where the bevel is set makes touch ups fast and simple. The more I use the WE the happier I am with the purchase. I sharpened free hand for 30 years and got pretty good but no where near as good as the WE. I enjoy freehand sharpening but enjoy the terrific result I get with the WE just as much. I know it's expensive but for me it was a good investment. I carried a freshly sharpened Sebenza 25 while working in the shop yesterday and found I was almost looking for stuff to cut.

Just wanted to share these thoughts with people that might actually care as opposed to people that ask "how much did you pay for that knife?".

I love my WE and I feel it's worth the high cost. For touch ups, I mainly use a sharpmaker these days but when I do it on the WE, I use a progression similar to yours. 800 to 1K to balsa strops with 5 micron paste.

Another vote for WEP or any device enable to minimize variables, especially with human errors.

Nearly impossible to get accuracy without rigidity.

Without, only guess. :)

I bought a pro pack 2 about a month ago and I love it. I've sharpened about 20-30 knives and each one has been shaving sharp every time. It's great, and totally worth the cost!
