New wicked edge user here. Just curious what other people's experience is on the break in time of the stones. About how many sharpens do you think it takes for them to smooth out and become less aggressive (relatively speaking)?

I'm also wondering about techniques for removing the scratch patterns as you move through the grits. Right now, like many I'm getting fantastic results, but still getting some scratches visible inside the mirror finish.

My progression is: 100/200, 400/600, 800/1000, 1200/1600 ceramics, 5/3.5 micron strops, and freehand 1 micron and 0.5 micron strops.

it will take about 15 knives or so.

Removing the scratches from the prior grits will take time and experience, but to help you can alternate your grind direction so it will create a cross hatch pattern initially. once the grind lines are all going in the same direction w/ the new grit you know you have erased the previous grit scratches.

Thanks Josh! I was hoping you'd reply.
