So I see the wicked edge field and sport with clamps to a table has the upgraded ball bearing arms, and the clamp is susposed to have the same measurements and such, but it looks different. It is the same price as the standard model, and the upgraded arms are 150 extra. So I can't help but feel I must be giving up something with the field and sport model. Anyone know?

I'm looking at the Field and Sport model too. I often take my sharpener to work so I want something more portable.

So I'm curious as well. The Pro model has the upgraded arms.

It looks like you are getting a good deal with the Field and Sport as it now comes with the upgraded arms for the same price. I think the clamp is a bit different than the one that comes with the standard WEPS but that should not make much of a difference in functionality.

i have the field and sport kit and it travels with me every where, sharpen people knives and love the portability and everything just goes back in its small black case and im done. works just like the other kits and comes with the pro upgraded arms and also the 800/1000 stones

After doing a little more digging, this is what I've come up with.

There is the old / discontinued Field and Sport (Discontinued in Dec) that doesn't have the upgraded arms or the 800 / 1000 grit stones still being sold for $299.

The "new" Field and Sport comes with the upgraded arms but not the 800 / 1000 grit stones and it is also $299.

There is a Field and Sport Pro that has the upgraded arms and includes the 800 / 1000 grit stones being sold for $450.

There is a '"newer" version of the Field and Sport Pro called the Field and Sport Plus - it's the same as the old Pro model but being sold for $369 by only one retailer that I can find. If you google Wicked Edge Field and Sport Plus you'll find it. It's not available yet, they're calling for mid August before it's in.

Why all the changes?

The Wicked Edge 3rd Generation is coming out.

So, having said all that, I think that's why there's a difference with the upgraded arms on the "new" Field and Sport for the same price as the old one.
