So I have a brand new WE Go arriving 12-26 as my Xmas present to me.

I have never sharpened anything yet. I know to start by practicing on cheap knives before I touch any of my good stuff.

I am not handy, so any other tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You might get more responses over on wicked edge's own forums. But keep us posted on what you think of it. I don't think the GO has been out very long, so there might not be a very large user base.
On the wicked edge website, the GO is listed as temporarily unavailable. Have you checked that it's really on the way?

I called them last week. They were receiving 50 a day and shipping as they came in. I suspect they are just catching up on a popular pre order. Or they completely lied to me. Lol

I would second the recommendation to check out wicked edge’s knowledge base and forum if you have not already in addition to what you can read here.

As a new owner of a wicked edge I can tell you that you need to be patient, especially if you haven’t ever sharpened before. It takes skill to do it and there is a breaking in period.

I’m only about 5 knives in and I’m just now seeing my first “wicked edges”. I’m still no where near the capabilities of the sharpener.

If you haven’t already done it I would spend a few hours on YouTube. There’s some fantastic videos out there. Clay Allison puts out a lot of FAQs into videos.

The GO will be my first Wicked Edge product. I use the Edge Pro and it produces fantastic results but the blade flipping and the huge slurry mess I make on the kitchen counter are drawbacks. This system seems simpler and faster to me. They are very clear that the diamond stones need to be broken in. I have heard anywhere from 5 to 15 sharpenings before you have broken them in. I look forward to receiving mine. BTW, the forums over there are amazingly silent on the GO. Crickets.
