While discussing the Wicked Edge in another thread, I mentioned that I thought it would be cheap and easy to make a low angle adapter for the WE from a Lansky clamp.

As it turned out, cbwx34 posted a picture from an old modified Gatco clamp that he send to Clay and that became the inspiration for the WE LAA.

So I was not the first to came up with the idea but I here is my version.

The original WE LAA is €118.- here in the Netherlands so I am more than pleased with this home made version.

Very nice! Can you post pics from the side? I am curious as to the width...

Cool!

I had a thought looking at yours... If you took a piece of metal (maybe part of the clamp you cut off?), and bolted it to the part you've got clamped now, it may line things up better.

I made a prototype from cardboard, to give an idea what I mean...

Thanks, that is another good idea. Especially when using it with thicker blades that would make it possible to get it 100% centered.

The Lansky clamp that I used is a skeleton type so I would not even have to drill holes, just a few nuts, bolts and washers would do the trick.
When using it with thinner blades as the Victorinox in the picture, it is just about perfect centered as is and little to no adjustment is needed. The WE stones don't even come close to the WE clamp so it doesn't matter that the right side of the clamp is off centre
