When using the sweeping motion on the Wicked Edge should I be pulling the stone away or in to the blade? Iv just been sweeping the stone along the blade without pulling or going in to the edge, without using the whole stone.

Regardless of direction, you should be using the majority of the stone... not just sweeping it along the edge. It's typical to do an "edge trailing" stroke, away from the edge, but different directions provide different results.

Take a look at this video, at the 1:30 mark, he talks about using an"edge leading" stroke, and some of the reasoning...

I do a combination of both. Some people do a scrubbing motion. I don't think it matters very much.
