What's a quick easy way to secure the wicked edge without any big tools. I just got mine today and my base won't be here until next week I just need something quick and easy for now to try it out. Thanks!

600 grit is going to leave you with a nice "toothy" edge. IMO, that's going to be good enough for most cutting tasks. I usually only sharpen until 600 for kitchen knives and beater knives. I use 800 and 1000 for my super steel knives (M390, etc.).Thanks guys, and how much better of an edge do you get with the 800/1000 stones because I only have the 600 and am thinking of upgrading
