Hey Hogs,

A lot of excitement today! Which is gr8t -- now we just need to wait for the Ganza announcement ;). Now back to the reason why I'm starting this thread. I'm strongly considering getting the Gen 3 Wicked Edge Field and Sport Pro later this summer when it's released. It's essentially the same thing as the Wicked Edge Field and Sport Pro with certain hardware upgrades. I wanted to know to what degree of success you fellow hogs have had sharpening your Busse and BusseKin knives with the Wicked Edge. Are any of you getting hair whittling levels of sharpness consistently? We all know that many, if not most, Busse and BusseKin knives have slightly more obtuse bevel angles as you get closer to the tip of the knife. I'd like to know if it's relatively easy to re profile the edge angle so that the edge angle/grind is consistent from to tip to handle. Also, since INFI is notorious for needing simply stropping in order to get a sharp edge back (assuming there isn't serious edge damage, chipping, serious rolls, etc.) will the loaded strops used with the wicked edge really get the knife back to hair whittling after hard use? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks again and happy V day to you all.

i just touched up my NMFBM on the wicked edge and it was A LOT easier than i thought it would be... the .28 thickness wasnt an issue for the clamp, however i did have to do it in two halves by repositioning the blade to get from half way to the blade tip to keep the angle consistent.

basically if you are doing a flat grind or sabre grind the WE is fine, but it wont work for the hollow grinds. for those send em in to get sharpened or sandpaper/mousepad freehand
