Wicked Edge stone question

Hey guys I just recently made my own homemade wicked edge system. I got the idea from Moxy's thread a few years back. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I'm going to purchase some wicked edge stones to use with it. My question is would the 400-600 stone be enough by itself. I'm not interested in mirrored edges at this point. I just want a good sharp blade that will last. From what I have learned this is a good range to stop at for that. Would I need to get the 100-200 stones as well or would the 400-600 stones be enough? I'm working on a budget hence the homemade system. I'll be sharpening a manix 2 and Pm2 both in s110v. Thanks

If you just want to match factory angle and get the knives sharp, 600 grid will give you a good satin edge that's better than factory, in fact, 320 would give you similar factory grind line.

That being said, please consider getting the Wicked Edge diamond stone, then you can probably get away with not having 100-200 grid and unless you are going to do major reprofile of the edge.

Thanks. I am definitely planning on getting the diamond stones. I should have mentioned that in my post. I would love to get away with only buying one set of stones. That would make this a pretty cheap project. But if I need the 100-200 I'll get that as well.
 
Glad I can help but I just couldn't help myself to show you S110V takes a superb mirror, factory angle with 1000 grid micro at 18 dps, the edge holds forever, i cut up a lot of cardboard and nylon straps at construction site, I do strop it daily thou. That edge I put on about a year ago,
