I've started having good results with my 5/3.5 strops, but would like to step it up a notch. Should I get the 1/.5 strops or the film?

I would go for the strops. I have the kangaroo with 1 and .25 and my knives tree top easily. Work you way down the strops 5>3.5>1>.25 about 10-15 strokes per side very light pressure and your on your way!:thumbup:
