Wicked Edge, What grits do you use

I suck at sharpening by hand. So looked at sharpening systems and decided the Wicked Edge was going to be best for me. I ordered the basic kit with a base, and picked up the 800/1000 diamond stone set and a set of leather strops with 10/14 paste. I was figuring those should be sufficient to get nice and sharp as it is my understanding a factory edge is about 600 grit. Does this sound right for those that use this system? Also, anyone have any thoughts on the 3M film?

I have the WE, and bought the 50/80 grit stones for heavy cutting and quick reprofiling. I also got the 800/1000 stones, the 1200/1600 ceramics, and 5/3.5 leather strops. I usually end up skipping the ceramics after the stones and go straight to the strops.
I don't recommend the film, just stick with the basic stuff. You can get a great edge with stones and the strops, or even just the stones!
If you get a WE, there is a learning curve. Do not rush, patience is key. Also, practice on cheap knives before touching your nicer ones

Sounds like I ordered the right stuff then, and yes I have a bunch of cheap knives that need sharpening I can practice on.

Thanks.
