I wanted to know if anyone could tell me a few good places to buy a wicked edge. I'm looking at getting the pro pack 1 and possibly upgrade the arms (too bad they only offer it on the 2). Of all the places I have checked they are all the same price.

I checked out all the dealers on bf. I was hoping someone would be selling nib slightly cheaper but it seems everyone is listing the same price. Also, what benefit would it be to purchase from a dealer instead of manufacture direct?

I don't think you can do any better than Oldwan Bob, as he works directly with the manufacturer in offering the latest updates. Also you would probably get quicker service from him if any was needed, as the MFG is pretty busy, and may not be able to respond as quickly as Bob. Disclaimer: Just my observations as I do not have any WE products. I am going strictly by previous post on the forum in re: the Wicked Edge Systems.

Blessings,

Omar

OldawanBob, a dealer here on Bladeforums gets good reviews.

I got mine from bob at a gun show, the absolute best service and price. Got a pro pack 2 and he was out of stone bases, discounted the price because of it and sent me one for free when the got them in stock. I highly recomend oldawan. Beyond top notch service!!!

Those were the responses I wanted to hear. Seems I will be dealing with him! thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm looking forward to the WE

Oldawan Bob (Bob Nash) used to work for Clay at Wicked Edge, he seems to be the most enthusiastic, well liked and reliable seller of their products.

Better than WE itself in my opinion, they seem to have too much going on to sell well.

He keeps the public informed of any supply or recall issues that will delay dispatch (which happen often) and has informative info banners on his site about when he is away.
He would be the number one dealer for WE.

I agree, it's a shame the upgrade arms are not offered with the PP1, at least a discount for removing the old parts if the upgrade kit is purchased with a new WEPS would help.
Can't understand why the old arms and angle bar remain in the box with a PP2 purchase also, a price reduction by not including them would be nice.
Even with the new washer fix to remove some slop, the old arm set still have thinner diameter arms than the upgrade and that can cause angle variation issues.

I see there are still issues with the angle screws coming loose while sharpening and I can't believe the "micro-adjust" lock screw still screws into a thread to lock it. :(
Hopefully, one day all the bugs will be ironed out.

As for pricing, Clay has a "minimum price lock" in place as a condition of being a dealer, freight deals are not in it.
The price can go up, but it's not meant to go down. ;)

I got a WE Pro Pac 1 a few months ago. Hope you will like yours as much as I like the one I got. It's great, especially if you need to re-profile an edge.

Anther very happy Oldawan customer!!!! Bob has the best customer service skills and knowledge! He can not sell cheaper but will make sure you are 110% happy with your product and service. I would not even think of giving my business to someone else! Period!

I was just checking out his site but it doesnt look like he stocks the kit for upgraded arms and riser block? I def. want to get those as well

He says "March 6: We have sold out of the ball joint arm kits again - more are on order.".

This is typical for Wicked Edge, always something out of stock.
I would hate to be trying run a business selling these. ;)

Clay puts it down to demand being greater than expected.
His site says "one to two weeks" from March 4.

May be running a tight budget and wanting to turn product over quickly, short shelf life?
If you have a great product and it starts selling like he says it is, you need to start talking in "much" bigger numbers.

This out of stock issue is years old.
I think Clay should make a commitment to change.
If the product wasn't so good he would be going broke because of this.

The upgrade arm kit is made in the US (not China like the rest), surely it's simply a need to order more and at the right time.

There are "many" stories of people waiting for their order to either be sent, processed or even acknowledged.

Come on Clay, perhaps hire a business manager, and let your dealers do the sales?

You just promote the product! ;)

Bob may have the upgraded arms in-stock now and just not updated his website. He received some last week and held shipment of my PP2 kit until he got them.

At any rate, if you order the PP2 kit and he does not have the upgraded arms, don't worry as you receive the normal arms with the kit in addition to the upgraded arms. If the upgraded arms are back-ordered you can still use the sharpener with the original arms until receiving the upgraded arms. I never used the non-upgraded arms but to me they look like they would work just as well--especially if you're not sharpening 50 knives a day every day.

howesknifeshop.com is my go to place , free shipping on everything! Even the wicked edge.

If you are military buy it through promotive. I just got my shipping conformation today. I picked up the wicked edge that comes with the 100, 200, 400, 600 stones, the base, and a set of 800, 1000 stones all shipped to my door for the incredibly low price of $238. Can't beat the price with a stick.

Hey Everyone - thanks for that great feedback. That really made my week! :D

Just to clarify - the ball joint arm kit can be bought separately - the only package it is included in is the Pro Pack II, but it will fit onto the sharpener no matter the way you buy it i.e. just the basic kit + arms kit or the Pro Pack I + arms kit. The Pro Pack II has the basic sharpener and the upgrade kit included - you just replace the parts onto the basic kit like you would buying it any other way.

Unfortunately, as reported above, I am out of stock on those arm kits again and awaiting delivery :( We ran through the 25 I received last week in an amazingly short time so I have taken them off the site as a separate item again until I can deliver since our current site bills at the time of order and I really don't like prepayments. So, give me a call, email or PM and I'll get you on my list and will contact you to finalize payment and shipping as soon as I have them in stock again.

I also have to endorse Bob at Oldawan. I’ll be the first to admit I’m more of a forum reader than contributor here at “Bladeforums”, but I was taken aback by the level of customer service I got from Oldawan. Not only did he have the system I was looking for instock, but he bent over backwards to get it in the mail to me as soon as possible in an effort to get it to my house on Saturday so I wouldn’t have to wait until Monday to receive it. I received no fewer than 4 email notifying me that my order was accepted, that it was being sent out, to make sure I keep my eyes peeled for the little “extra goodies” he includes when you order ”Pro-packs”, and so on. Besides the fed-ex emails notifying me of the tracking number, the emails I received from oldawan were directly from Bob. The emails were lengthy, detailed, and personal, definitely not “form letters”. All of this was unprovoked on my part too, all I did was place an order, it wasn’t like I was an overzealous and inpatient customer pestering a store owner (been there before with other companies when they take months to get stuff out the door). I even got an email from him when he noticed that Fed-ex had marked my order as delivered, where he offered to answer any questions I might have when tinkering with it for the first time. All in all I have never come across better customer service and I haven’t even played with my WEPS yet! Oldawan has earned my business for life, and that’s a hard thing to do with gear-nuts. Anyway that’s my two cents, I just had to share my story, and I hope this helps someone else out there who is on the edge.
