Just wondering if anyone else has had this virus? It last anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks, antibiotics are useless to viruses. I've had it for about 4 weeks, so has some of my family in NJ and Pennsylvania.

Some of the things I've done have really helped.

I've been taking a teaspoon of Manuka honey one garlic clove minced with half teaspoon of cayenne pepper 3 times a day. Tons of tangy tangerine, just bought the pill versions also.
3 Turmeric pills 3 times a day, 3 enzymes 3 times a day, oil of oregano, apple cider vinegar, gargling with salt water, at least a half gallon or more of water, about 10,000 milagrams vitamin C. Sudefed every 6 hours and Claritin. Neti pot 3 times a day. Ibprofin as needed. Rest as much as possible.

My throats isn't as sore, mucus can be blown out my nose now Coughing up yellow green mucus.
I've never had anything like this before. Wash your hands as much as possible, try not to touch your face.

Hope everyone stays healthy, god bless.

why don't you add some zink to the cocktail?

tbh I doubt much of that works for the better with recent studies. maybe that much of it may be worse than good too.

have you heard some viruses will slow if you start feeding yourself a more alkaline diet than acidic? might be worth a try.

anyways hope you get better.

My parents and sister caught it while visiting Pennsylvania over Christmas. My parents seems to be just getting over it. My sister still has a very sore throat.

It sounds a bit like a bug that was causing havoc down here in our cold/flu season in around July/August.

It was like a very bad cold that came in waves. Two-ish weeks of illness then about two of health/recovery. I had three waves (over the course of a couple months). It sucked.

I haven't had anything worse than a cold since I started getting the flu vaccine. Does it prevent this?

For 2016-2017, three-component vaccines are recommended to contain:

A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus,
A/Hong Kong/4801/2014 (H3N2)-like virus and a
B/Brisbane/60/2008-like virus (B/Victoria lineage).
Four component vaccines are recommended to include the same three viruses above, plus an additional B virus called B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus (B/Yamagata lineage).

Symptoms are stuffy nose, soar throat, ear congestion just a tiredness. Zinc is a great idea, plus D3. It just doesn't go away. My aunt is a nurse for 25 years and my uncle Mike had it also. Worse cases are pneumonia.

What was circulating down here wasn't an influenza strain so the vaccine wouldn't help. Whether or not that's the same illnessgoing around up there...not sure.

I started getting the flu shot when my wife was pregnant and kept it up since we had kids. While the flu would be unpleasant for me it's downright dangerous for the little ones.

I never get flu vacccine, only had the flu twice in my 43 years. I don't think The flu vaccine will prevent this one.

I have been getting something similar on and off for the last 2 months. Doctors told me it could be some kind of sinus infection and gave me antibiotics. 2 rounds of antibiotics, both for 10 days and it's still not going away. Doctor told me the other day it could be related to allergies and some kind of sinus infection together. My mom got something similar a few days ago but it came and went quick, and I have pretty bad allergies. Maybe try some allergy medicine like Allegra for a few days and see if it helps a little.

I have used the Neti pot but it doesn't seem to help me, even with other illnesses like this. Seems to work great for others though.

Both my aunt and I took two rounds of antibiotics and it did nothing,Sounds like the same thing. My aunt got over it about 8 weeks. And it's weird I think I'm getting a little better and pow, still sick.

A decongestant and a antihistamine is what docs told me.

Being some what of a Germaphobe, this sounds almost scary.
I deal with the general public daily. I shake hands with many different people daily. In doing so, I carry hand sanitizer and use it often & discretely with through hand washes in between. I also lightly spray Lysol in my office probably 2 times a day. I clean my desk with window cleaner when customers leave. I clean my keyboard & phone at the beginning of the day with a window cleaner wipe down. I even clean the pens folks use. For me, I normally use copper or brass pens. lol I am careful not to touch my face or food/drinks with "dirty" hands. I even have a small HEPA air filter running in my office.
Yes I know, a bit obsessive.
Don't get me started on having to use a "public" bathroom. :)

Some co-workers clown me & it is a office joke. But, it has been years since I missed work because of being sick. I also do it for my family. I don't want to bring anything home. I have a young children and one is very susceptible to getting sick. This child was adopted and is what started me down the germaphoia path many years ago.

Here is a bit of info about Copper & Brass some folks may not already know.

Great copper pens to consider: Montegrappa, Cross, Tuff Writer, MCM, Matthew Martin, Hinderer and Tactical Turn.

The flu vaccines don't agree with my family. Very bad, negative reactions every single time they've been had. They're not an option for us.

I'm just checking back in, I was feeling a little more sick today then I have been and my heart was racing a bit. So I went back to the doctor, I have a 103 degree fever and it would appear that I've caught the flu on top of my sinus infection/allergy thing. I did get the the vaccine this year so I definetly have some bad luck. It must be bad this year because I haven't had the flue since I was real little.

I've been blessed with good genes, or something. I may get the flu once every 5 years, or so, but only rarely take the flu shot. Last year, 3 of my family of 6 got the flu shot, and those 3 are the ones who caught the flu. "Different strain" they say. Whatever. As it is, I have 2 kids who never get sick and 2 who get sick regularly.

I do notice that a common cold takes me longer to get over, these days. I attribute that to getting older.

I stay away from anti-biotics, and haven't needed a dose in several years. Last time wasn't for a sinus infection, rather an abscessed tooth. Now, THAT's something worth avoiding! Changed my dental habits right away, and don't ever intend to have that happen again.

Hope you all stay healthy.

My girlfriend caught another virus on top of this one. She went to the doctors, she had fever and swollen glands, that passed in about 5 days. They ran test and said it wasn't bacteria like so you just have to do your best and let it run its course.

I've only been to the dentist once, and that was because I absolutely needed it. In my case the swelling from the abscess actually hurt worse than the removal process. Even when the novocaine wore off, it still hurt a whole lot less than what I'd been putting up with.

I'd been afraid of going to the dentist for years, I'm sure most of us have been. So imagine how stupid I felt when I realized that it was nothing compared to what I'd been suffering through.

That's generally been the course of action over here. If we get sick we just wait it out, because going to the hospital just puts you at greater risk of getting even sicker.

What has been going around our schools is 48-hour intestinal flu. Very nasty, but gone in a couple, leaving victims weak but happy to be free of the bad symptoms.
