wide blade folder

Get a Spyderco Manix 2 XL...you'll be happy.

Even the regular Manix has a pretty wide blade!

Spyderco Tenacious and Resilience as well. United Cutlery Willumsen Urban Tac, Zero Tolerance 0700, Schrade SCH301, Lansky Responder, Zero Tolerance 0200, Benchmade Bedlam, Benchmade MPR... That's all I could think of off the top of my head.

How about the Kershaw 1/2, 3/4 or 1 Ton knives?

I carry a One Ton at work most days, and it has become my favorite budget EDC folder. Despite the wide blade, its profile is very thin, making it great for sharing pocket space with a cell phone. Aside from the usual tape and cardboard, I've cut quite a few zip-ties with it too, as well as various types of cable, and it's still nearly as sharp as the day I bought it without so much as a touch up. That's surprising to me given that it's 8Cr13MoV steel, but it has held its edge amazingly well.

Zero Tolerance 0350, 0300, 0200, 0700. Smatchet. Spyderco Manix 2.

Going to second the Manix 2. If tip strength is a concern it might not be the best option however.
