I'm wondering what folders have blades that are close to, but shorter than 4" and really wide (distance from spine to edge.)

Knives I have personal experience with that have really broad blades include the Spyderco Para Military 2, Benchmade 950 Rift, Spyderco Gayle Bradley, Kershaw Blur, and Cold Steel AK-47. The first three are by far my favorites and I recommend them very highly. From what I've seen the ZT series has really broad blades as well as tons of Spydercos. Look around and see what models you like.

+1 on ZTs -- the 030x knives especially. The Lion Steel SR-1 also fits the bill.

Like most have said, the ZT 30X

Also, the Benchmade Rift 950 is pretty wide with a huge reinforced reverse modified tanto tip.

The ZT 0300 series and Spyderco Gayle Bradley are the first I think of. The GB especially because it makes use of the tall blade with its high hollow grind.

The Benchmade Onslaught is another knife with a 4 inch long and quite wide blade.

Ultra-Lock AK-47 is positively massive for a 3.5 inch blade, a little less so for the tri-ad lock version . If your looking for a big feeling knife to meet a blade length restriction these might be it as they are rather large knives for 3.5 inch blades.

Lionsteel's SR-1 has wide blade that is 3.7" long.
