hey, i have a spec-ops brand "MAMBA" and i hate it. i hate the issued m-16 too. both slings are not wide enough-- they are probably what... .75" wide? maybe 1" i'm not sure exactly.

all i know is i carry my weapon everywhere i go and over time that thin sling cuts into my shoulders. uncomfortable and what a pain.

i'm looking for the widest, nylon, sling that i can get. something maybe 1.5"-2" wide webbing?

can anyone recommend a decent sling for my rifle? 3 point slings are nice. no need for that expansion spring or whatever it is they put in some of the high-tech ones. just a simple 3 point that's wide and strong enough.

any advice/links would help. thanks!

im assuming you dont leave the wire much if your wearing a sling and its digging in to your shoulder. I would say try blackhawk they have a wider one. I ditched my sling and use a snap link to clip it to my IBA both times i been over there. This works great and allows use of your hands when needed and your weapon stays attatched, the only downfall of this technique is not being able to switch shoulders quickly, which id say is acceptible risk. hope all this helps

2 inch is about the widest I have seen, and many guys use the padded M60 sling as well. The M60 has attaching straps the will work with the AR sling swivels but widens into a about a 2 inch padded strap. Blackhawk offers a three point M60 sling.

i'm not really interested in a pad...

you say you've seen a 2" sling? any idea what was the brand?

even 1.5" or 1.75" would work.

There is an Israeli sling made for the M16/M4... i haven't seen it sold for a while.

there is a new sling from Emdom that is a two point adjustable but also convertable to a one point with the appropriate hardware. here's a link:

Either get some muscle on your shoulders or keep you rifle in you hand. If you put some big wide sling on your weapon and then try to actually wear it with some gear. It will be a mess. There is a reason you don’t see a lot of wide slings, its because they are a P.I.T.A. If you must have a wide sling, M60 slings were wider, but since they don’t have M60s anymore maybe one from a SAW or a Mag 240.
