I thought I'd pass this along. Yesterday I ran past the trail head up to the top of a local hill in a wooded area. After about an hour I returned and a 1 foot diameter branch from an oak tree was blocking the path of the trail head.

It had fallen in the hour after I had passed. I'm guessing it was about 20 feet long and weighed in about 500-1000 lbs.

The weather was calm and clear with no wind.

I would have taken a picture of it, but it looked just like a big branch in the forest :).

I always check when I put up my tent, but this could happen anywhere.

Watch out for Widow Makers in the woods!

Marathonman

P.S., it's time to start running in the woods with a Junglas!

Good thing you weren't "smart" enough to stay under it. But yea as eloreno said, way too many ppl don't care about that and risk getting seriously injured

Just wanted to post and say, "Cool nickname!"

One of my favorite movies.

"Is it SAFE?!"
