Subject: Randall Model 2-8 Fighting Stiletto

Hello everyone. I'm new to this group, & wondered if there are any
Randall enthusiasts out there who could help me. My husband passed
away a few years ago, & left a small knife collection, one of which
is a Randall. I've managed to identify it as a model 2-8 - 8" blade,
fighting stiletto, but there appear to be variations on this. This
one has a black micarta handle, no butt cap, double brass hilt & the
spacers are red, white, black (or very dark green), white, red. It
has an "S" stamped on the blade, behind the other info. I wonder
whether anyone would be able to tell me what year it would have been
made, & whether that particular model has any other identifying number
(s). It doesn't have a sheath, & I have no idea where I might be able
to get one. The knife itself is in good condition. Any clues as to
what it might be worth, without the sheaf (or with, if I manage to
acquire one? (not that I wish to sell it - just interested).
Thanks for any help that might be forthcoming.

I'm not the expert on this subject and I'm sure others will jump in with better info. According to the catalog...............
Knife....$265.00
Micarta handle.....$25.00 extra
S [stainless steel blade].......$30.00 extra
approx value $320.00 less sheath $$
I am unable to give an age/date, sorry. Of course Randalls have gone for much more money but that is a collector/ buyer. Ebay auction site, sells Randall made knives for $50 to $200 over list quite often.

A sheath can be purchased from Sullivan Leather, Tampa Fl. for approx $35.00. Greg Gutcher is the authorized maker of sheaths for Randall Knives. There is a Randall webb page too.

Another good site.....http://www.randallknifesociety.com

I hope this helps somewhat.

Greg Gutcher's business phone number is 813 236 8791. He is very helpful. Right now he has back problems. If he is not at the shop, I am sure someone at his business, Sullivan's Holster Shop, can help you.

In the current RMK catalogue all the options that you have on your knife are available. ie) black micarta, double brass hilt, stainless blade.

The current standard spacers are red/white/blue/white/red. The thickness of the each of the spacers might help determine the age. If you could post a picture, someone who is alot more knowledgeable than me, will probably help.

Gaben, Forward the help list shown in Randall lore #007 which will allow Augie to determine the age of her Model 2. If the knife is an older model, a new sheath will not help the value any more than the sheath cost, if that. In an older knife the sheath is almost as important as the knife.
