Width of SAK Explorer Vs. Huntsman

Perfect! thanks.

I am searching for the perfect EDC SAK...

I think the Explorer is it... the only thing that could make it better is maybe the addition of pliers and a file... but then your into Swisschamp territory...

I agree. The Explorer Plus (always get the Plus version where available) has long been my favorite SAK. The magnifier and the phillips that folds out 180 degrees like God intended are among its best features. Getting the Plus version adds a pen, a pin and mini screwdriver.

Is that your EDC accoutrement ?!?!

Ive also been thinking of EDCing my LM Wave and Zebra Light instead of a SAK… But I am in love with the size of SAKs… I have a gift card for a local sports store, I might pick up a LM Juice… but I am not sure about that yet, haven't read enough reviews. :)

My EDC varies a good deal, but what is pictured is representative of it and has been carried many moons. I always have on me a smartphone, gun, light, Sharpie, whistle and SAK or multitool.

As stupid as it sounds, I almost agonize over what to carry. Its a mental illness. When I'm not carrying the Explorer Plus, I have a Victorinox Swisstool Spirit on my belt. I've been in a Spirit mood for the last few days. For me, the Spirit is the best combo of smallish size couple with full complement of tools. I alternate between a Quark Mini CR123 light on my belt, or a Quark Mini AA (feeding on a 14500 rechargeable battery, and pictured above) in my pocket.

Part of today's combo. SOG Aegis and Victorinox Swisstool Spirit.

might pick up a LM Juice… but . . . haven't read enough reviews.

Let me suggest supplementing the Explorer with a Leatherman Squirt PS4 or Style PS. Both provide excellent pliers, better than Vic's in that size category, and a file, although two different types. On the Squirt is a wood-metal file, fine on one side, coarse on the other. I've used it successfully to knock down some rough metal edges in a tiny slot that couldn't be touched with anything larger. OTOH, the Style has a nail file. Either fits easily into my jeans watch pocket where it can be ignored until needed. Pair your Explorer with one of these and rule the world.

The Wave is a nice tool but rather big size and weight wise, especially when comparing or talking about a SAK Explorer! I dont care for the xe6 model but like the s2 model and it fits in the change pocket of my jeans just right. It weighs about 4oz. The Wave is more for a backpack or something like that because to me it is alttle too heavy to carry everyday and all day but depends on your job, etc. I am more of an Urbanite that likes to travel light like a minimalist....:)

If you go with a SAK, the Explorer is the best one out there to me! Based on price vs tools vs size!

WOW! I didnt realize the Xe6 was $100 Wowzers... My Wave wasnt even that much...

I think the size and most importantly the price of the S2 is very attractive... although I sure would like to have a file and serrated blade. :/

This is a common affliction amongst us folks I guess. :)

Which is why I love my SwissChamp even though it's quite heavy. I dunno, I guess I love thick SAK's, even though they don't always go in my pocket (they're often in the bag or sitting beside me in the car). I always have a 58mm in my pocket though. :)
