I was cutting up a few aluminum beer cans (making some "penny" alcohol stoves), using my Para 2 in the kitchen, when my wife walks in, looks at my "projects in process", spies the Spydie, leans down, squints, blinks and squints again, and says "That thing on that knife looks like a wood tick." Cracked me up! She's a trooper and has had more than a few of those little critters grabbing onto her over the years. She hates them. Ha ha!

I told her that was Spyderco's trade mark and it was a spider. She shrugged and put some of the awesome, split pea and ham soup I made last night into the microwave, punched a few buttons and walked off.

I'm going to buy her a little "wood tick" knife for her purse one of these days.

I see the resemblance...

I HATE ticks, but that would be a great name for a new Spyderco. lol

She has plenty of company. Their idea was to create a less scary looking spider, but I'd say most people think it looks like a tick.

Thats friggin funny..about a year ago I was about to get the spyderco logo tattooed on me and a few friends came in looked at the blade and said "cool your getting a deer tick" we also happened to be listening to one of my favorite bands called deer tick..ssooo a deer tick it was...you can kind of see it on the hand thats petting my demon puppy :D

The logo does look like that tick I gently pulled off of my belly button last June. I was lucky, the area took a long time to heal up. For over a month it was purple and scalely, and I felt off of my game for July.

I 100% agree with gruntmedik, I HATE ticks! I love to fish and often go to ponds that aren't well kept or they are in the woods and I've gotten numerous ticks on me. I've been VERY lucky in the fact that I have always felt them crawling on me and have been able to get them off before they could "bite" me or attatch themselves. Knock wood that my luck continues to hold.

I'd have to agree with your wife. The logo looks much more like a tick than an spyder I've ever seen. However, they are both technically from the same basic family/class Arachnida. To me the logo looks more like a mite than anything.

Having to pull one off of your sack is the worst. Done it once or twice....

I know that's TMI but I hate them. I'm a tick magnet.

I hate ticks with a passion. Anyone get ehrlichiosis? Got it last summer, was laid out for 2 weeks. Ran a 105 degree fever and lost 19 lbs by the end of the two weeks. Its not fun, at all.
