I get to choose what she gets too! (am I one of the luckiest or what?)

I am going to order my BM 707 limited edition and a Cricket tomorrow and I was showing my wife what I was getting.

She liked the Cricket and mentioned she wanted a knife for work. She is the store manager for a Advanced Auto Parts store.

Her listed primary use would be cutting shrink wrap, opening up boxes and cutting tape to break down the box, and of course coolness factor etc etc. She had a knock off SK classic but complained about the lack of a locking blade and how quickly it got dull.

Her primary requirements are.

How it feels in the hand
Ease of one hand opening
Ease of one hand closing
Stay sharp for a while (yes she knows it can be resharpened)
Cool color or design of knife (she kinda liked the sypderco skeleton knife but she is put off on the ergos of my Native and likes the thumb stud)
No bigger than a 3inch blade, and smaller more than OK

She likes my BM Leopard Cub with a liner lock. Very easy to close and open for her.

I let her play with my Native, and she didnt like it. To big and to hard to open ergo wise with her hand

I am leaning toward a BM Mini Grip, but willing to listen to other suggestions.

Her stated price is $60, but there is some leeway.

She saw some Wolfe folders and really liked them, but they are to pricey for her taste.

Also may want to look at a spyderco adventura, dragonfly, or delica. I've seen a few delicas with pink handles if she like that sort of thing. Maybe a mini or full size stryker too. Maybe a bm apparition if she like assisted knives.

Get her a ZDP-189 delica....pink and sharp. Yeah buddy gotta love it when the ladies want a blade:D I also like the mini-grip, have her hold both or look at both and see if she's a hole or no hole kinda gal.

The Spyderco Spin is another great knife that most women seem to really like.

I get the ol' "oh, that knife is soooo cute" from women all the time when carrying my Spin.:D

How about a spyderco Dodo? Pretty much purpose built to take apart boxes and other warehouse stuff.

I just got two Crickets in tonight for custom pocket clips and now that my wife has seen one she has me looking for one for her also. I can't recall her going bonkers over a knife so much before except for maybe the Poliwog I got her after she went on and on about it. I think she likes the Cricket even more due to the size of it though.

Anyone got an aluminum Cricket they don't need? :D

Try a Ka-Bar 4059, its blade is D2 hardened to HRC 60-61 and it holds it's edge very well:

It's also really slick and light. Highly recommended!

That was also the first knife that popped into my head.

It looks nice AND uses a great steel. Win, Win

However, if you don't want to spend that much you could get the Ka-Bar Dozier Hunter...

Or any other type of Dozier for that matter. The steel is not D2 but AUS8A (which is still pretty good IMHO) and the knives are not just a good deal but even dirt cheap when you consider the quality.

Regarding the Dozier D2, it would be perfect I think except for the lack of a clip. I want one. But the lack of clip is my personal issue with it and it may also be my wife's, I dont know. I have to ask her.

Damn good suggestion

For any one that owns the Dozier D2, is there any decent spots for a clip on the handle?

I do have the ability to drill and tap to put a clip on there.

My wife carries a knife everyday, but let me tell you a little bit about her....

We met in the Army where she was a Combat Medic and we're both Gulf War vets, so she's not unfamiliar with knives and such.

She is also a lefty with rather tiny hands and wrists, so some knives are difficult for her to open.

Here are some knives that she has carried in the past:

Spyderco Blue Delica- she liked it okay, but it was fully serrated and she decided that she preferred a plain-edge. And for some reason she had a little difficulty opening the blade with the thumb-hole.

Spyderco Toad- she really fell in love with the cuteness of the Toad, but it was too small and chunky for her.

Kershaw Rainbow Leek- one of her all-time favorites! She thinks that it's beautiful and the flipper makes it extremely easy to open. But since it is a frame-lock, it's not that lefty friendly when trying to close with one hand.
And she was afraid that it might come open in her pocket or in her purse.

Spyderco Salt- She liked this one better than the Delica because the thumb-hole is bigger, but she still had a little difficulty opening the knife (maybe due to the tiny hands?).

Her latest is the Waved Endura 4!
When I received a Waved Endura 4 in a trade and showed her how it works, she immediately wanted one.
I ordered another waved Endura 4 for her and a waved Delica 4 just in case she discovered that the E4 was too big for her.
Well, she didn't think the E4 was too big at all and she preferred it over the D4!
She told me that it's the easiest knife for her to open that she has ever used.
And she likes to freak out her co-workers alittle...
Here's this cute little lady, and when someone askes if anyone has a pocket-knife, she pulls out the Endura 4 with a lightning quick SNAP!!!
She says the look on their face is priceless!

Anyway, I hope this helps,
Allen.

There's always this one:

This has a clip and is also made from D2 @ HRC 60-61.

My wife hijacked one of my Buck 112's and gave me back her Buck 110.

If your wife is gonna be the user, let her pick it out... Take her to a gun or knife show.

If you pick it out, its gonna be "your fault".

My girlfriend bought herself a Spyderco Meerkat and loves it- plus it is fun to give to non-knife people to try and figure out how to unlock it
