I accidentally left my FRN delica in my pajamas and my wife washed it with the rest of the clothes. I dried it off with a hair dryer and cleaned it off best I could with some breakfree CLP, and it seems to look OK.

Do you think this will cause any problems with rust or anything?

If it got dried off and oiled up good it will be fine.

Hi Bob01. I regularly wash my Delica, both in the clothes waher and the dishwasher. not to worry.

Blast some WD-40 in the innards to displace the water, then lube it up. Keep your eyes out on the rust.

I love my Spydies but don't you think carrying a knife in your pyjamas is taking things a bit far??? :D ;)

The time I'm most asked if I have a knife to cut something is when I'm tooling around the house in a t-shirt and boxers. That's why I've taken to carrying a small folder in my boxers' waistband. That's probably why Spyderco has a Co-Pilot model and started making neck knives. It's perfectly sensible.

Heck, I can't sleep without one of my Calypso Jr's. clipped to my jammies or boxers, whichever I happen to have on. My wife hates it. It also means I always have to get re-dressed after - :D - but I need my sleep!

My brother had his native in the washer one time. I'm pretty sure it made it through that okay. It was when it was put in the dryer that there were some problems. Blade opened up inside. Took some work on the sharpmaker to get it good again. Still has some rough spots on the edge. I do know that the dryer stopped working shortly after that:D

bob01,

Don't feel too bad...I wash my Glock pistols in my wife's dishwasher, and I haven't seen any problems, so your Delica will be just fine.:).

Your Delica should be fine...but you should still try for a new one ;) As far as carrying one on your pajama's or boxers..whats the big deal? After work, I like to just fool around the house in some sleeping pants and a tee shirt. Without my knives, I would feel naked. I don't sleep with my knives...but that's just because I'm afraid that it will open on me

Washing it once in a while is ok, but if she starts ironing it now...well, now we got problems!

I promise, no more ribbing!;)

Well, it's been a day and it still looks ok. I'm mainly concerned with some of the areas deep inside that are hard to get to. It only went through the washer, and it's a front-loader, so it's gentle. She caught it while loading the dryer.

It was the weekend and I knew I'd probably have my pajamas on all morning, so I slipped it in when I woke up. I've only slept with it once, and that was by accident. When I was missing it the next day, I finally found it hidden in the sheets.

Don't worry, your knife will be OK. Yet, you can tell your wife that you'll need another one.
Spyderco is the AK-47 of knives. It works fine, virtually maintenance free. Though, as a sign of respect for your knife, you should clean, oil and sharpen it. And it will pay back, serving you when you'll need it most. :)

Oh, almost forgotten about that pyjama thing. I also carry my Delica IWB of my pyjama. Does this make me a weird'o?

Thank God she didn't put it in the dryer!! You know how Spydys shrink when put through the dry cycle!!;) :D You may find that a little Downy in the rinse cycle will smooth the action too.
