So i bought a bk5 from the forums with every intention of it being a gift to my wife as a kick butt kitchen knife.... Well the knife showed up today and my wife wasn't home when it did so as you might have guessed i opened it and started messing around with it...after about 10 or 15 mins i started to realise exactly how well this knife was preforming some basic bushcraft tasks. As i spent more time with it i was more amazed at how well it did. It cuts almost as well as my mother in laws tongue .... Pretty darn impressive! And it's design lends very well to a wide variety of task's... Only draw back i see is batoning with it will be very inefficient due to the top design which isn't a big issue for me also chopping with it could be a challenge. I didn't get as much time to fool around with it as i liked but i was impressed to say the least. I did want to but didn't get a chance to try batoning and chopping.
So my question is how well does this blade handle those two tasks? Any of the bk5 fans out there have some input/experience with this blade with regards to batoning and chopping i would love to hear it as i am planning a hike in a couple weeks and would like to know if the bk5 is going or staying home. If it chops and batons ok then i will vertainly carry it with me.... either way wifey is sol as she is not getting her hands on it as this one is all mine lol
Cheers
