I have a NIB ST300. When the handles are in the closed position (as if using a knife or screwdriver) and squeezed they shift a bit side to side. Is this a warranty issue or normal play? It has happened on two that I handled.

I have two ST300 and it is normal as far as I can tell, as long as the tools are not loose I would'nt worry about it!

serrated blade was very sharp on both along with the PE blades as well.

Could you push-cut paper with the blades? Because I can't really do that with mine.

The side to side play when using the screwdrivers is a problem on all multitools. The only tool I know of that doesn't have the problem is the Leatherman Micra. It has to tabs that come together to keep your from twisting the handles apart.

The blades on most Leathermans I've owned never came really sharp. I touch them up and use them for rough cutting only.

Came hair popping sharp! Not to say there were not some kind of issue with each tool, I do not think Leatherman is perfect and I have said so on this forum but I still buy their products because well I like them and overall they are the best I have found.

So far, I have had good juju with Leatherman. Since my first PST in 1996 to the present, out of a fair number of different samples, I have experienced few of the problems that some forum members have complained about concerning their various Leathermen. The blades on every one of mine came sharp out of the package, also no play on any implement. Only one, a Surge, developed a mysterious bind and had to go back for a minor fix. In ten days it came back perfect. A few others needed service, but always with problems I caused through misuse or neglect. Under a variety of environments, although nothing really extreme, none has ever shown the slightest signs of rust and nothing broke under any stress I have applied, although I did manage to bend a couple of drivers and loosen a Juice (all fixed by Leatherman warranty at no charge, fast and well.) In light of all this, I consider myself a loyal customer.
