A little hike in and fly fishing for wild trout in Northern NJ.

A very good place for a BF get together - Stokes State Forest, AT trail, Big Flatbrook Fishing :)

Definitely looks like a good spot to go out and enjoy. Thanks for sharing.

That's a beautiful place, and I'd love to be there!

But that's a rainbow trout, not a brookie!

I was about to say the same thing.

It's interesting that rainbows have out competed brookies in the brookies' native habitat in many places in the east, while brookies have out competed rainbows in the rainbows' native habitat in many places in the west.

Hey Brian, looks like you had a good day. Flatbrook is one of my favorite streams, especially in the fall with all the colors. You're right, that area has plenty to offer for outdoor activities. Every time I drive through that valley I daydream to myself "if I could only buy this whole place" :-) Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. Last October on the drive over the final mountain to the river, I had to slow down or stop for deer, fox, turkey, a large black bear and a bobcat. What a day!

wow never knew NJ had beautiful areas like that lol... wonder how many bodies are buried out there face down in shallow graves lol..

Ah, the good old Flatbrook. I've fly fished there many times and hunted the area as well. Were you near Three Bridges?

Ken,

I was down there at some pools, but these pics were a beautiful hike upriver from the Stokes campground. Nice hike and plenty of small pools. You could see the trout sitting in the little pools. 4 deer followed me for the hike.

My first time there, but not my last.

Brian
