Hey Guys,

Can you Guys who live in Northern California help me compile a list of edible plants that give you the most calories for the following areas.

a) Coast Area
b) Inland Area
c) Sierra Nevada Mountain Range

This is not my area of expertise and I appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Geoff

I think there are several books that address this, although I don't have any titles offhand. You might try a Google search, or Amazon.

www.christophernyerges.com He's The Man when it comes to edible plants (and identifying dangerous ones). I've been to a couple presentations by him, including at Dirttime 2009, and he's first rate.

This is an excellent one. Charlotte Clarke is one of the best local ethnobotanists... Has great recipes too!

I don't live in your area, but I think Christopher Nyerges would be a good bet. Here's a link to his book.

Looks like DWK2 beat me to it. If you scan down on DWK2's link, you'll see a book called Survival Skills of Native California - that is one superb book! (even if you don't live in California)
