Wow - what an impressive set! Everything looks great - the knives, the sheaths (holy $#%@!) and the display stands. Congrats to all involved.

Roger

Just a beautiful and outstanding package from both functional knives and art object standpoints.

All I can say is I should hope to be able to do such beautiful work someday. Its just great work.

Damnedest set of bookends I ever did see......and wanted, too!!!

Thanks folks!

My partner really deserves most of the credit. All I did was the blades, fit the guard blanks, and rolled out the sheet bronze for the fittings. Chuck did the rest!

Chuck also did the file work and patina on the blades. After he was finished he sent them back to me to sweeten up the edges.

The stands were made from the same pair of antlers as the handles. As a side note, the father of the collector who is getting these shot the deer that they came from.

Too cool:thumbup: What steel did you use for the blades?

Joe, the blades are forged from "1065".
The overall length of the knives are about 15 inches.

Absolutely beautiful knives and scabbards:thumbup:! BTW, as I am not familiar with "1065", what would you say this steel is suitable for? Also, what would be the cost for similar knives either with or, without the scabbards?

Definitely some extra cool points right there. :)

It's a good basic all around plain carbon knife steel.

If you would like a price quote please contact Chuck or I through email.

these knives were made for me and my best friend....his dad died and these antlers were his....i had actually had the antlers sent to another knifemaker to start but i decided to have them sent back to me and sent to tai instead.....me and my friend claude have always dreamed of having a wild goo......we opened them together today and could not believe our eyes....with so many months of waiting you would think i could have thought of something brilliant to say....not really.....the work chuck did is unbelievable.....when my sister saw them....she thought they were antiques....she didn't believe me that they were brand new......my friend claude opened his first....we both started to swell up with tears thinking about his dad....he was a great guy and would have loved to have seen a knife of this caliber.....i can say it was a very long wait.....it was probably the longest wait i have ever had for a knife......the face on my best friends face was priceless.....it was worth every cent paid and every day waited.....i can tell you two things....if you don't have a sheath from chuck.....GET ONE!......and if you don't have a knife from Tai....GET ONE!.....you are missing out a knife and or sheath that will surpass all of your wildest dreams......i have quite a few knives from tai and they keep getting better and better.....i can't thank you both enough.......THANKS TAI AND CHUCK!!!!!!!....you've made my knife dreams come true......ryan

Thanks Ryan!

Yes, we received the deposit back in December of 2006. It took a bit longer than normal, because there were two of us that had to work it into our schedules. Thanks for being so patient. :)
