Wild Idea: Busse (or Kin) Balisong

Okay hear me out, I think a Busse Balisong would be a very sweet knife and here is why.

Butterfly knives are one of the toughest, if not THE toughest, folding knives hands down. If you are using a zen pin, the only way that knife is failing is by breaking the blade, something not likely with good steel. Even tang pins are very robust.

Also anybody who likes to play with a balisong is eventually going to drop it. Broken tips, chips, and ruined edges are the bane to a balisong lover. Many never take their knives outside for fear of dropping them and hurting the blade. Infi, as well as sr101 and sr77, are very tough steels. If it can cut a car apart, then a 6ft drop onto concrete isn't much to worry about.

Butterfly knives are also a ton of fun to play with and fondle. They have this intrinsic "coolness" about them that is also shared by all of Bussedom.

They could do a collaboration with someone who makes balisongs since Busse's specialty is fixed blades. I think BRS would be a great choice, as would any number of knife makers.

Sandwich construction or 80's style milled channels, it would be an awesome knife.

And it would be a folding Busse.

Let me know if I am crazy, I have had my suspicions for years.

I like the idea. I'd love to have one. I have a weakness for balisongs. Albeit only quality balisongs.

I totally agree on the quality part. I broke too many cheap balisongs before jumping in and getting quality steel.

I have no doubt the Busse group would make a good one. Maybe not a flipper built for tricks, but definitely a solid one.

Right now I'm learning on a quartermaster Msrty mcfly. I think a busse would suit me better 😁

You might want to keep your eye out for Kimura in the secondary market, and BRS released a knife today that is in the 200 buck range that should be excellent. It is called the Barebones.

But I agree that Busse's styling would be MUCH better than quartetmaster

I flip a little, but then I live in a free state that not only allows me to own but also to carry all these knives.

If Busse made a Bali I would be all over for sure, but my guess is that it would be too restrictive of a product to make available to the world wide Busse purchasers. I am not familiar with Ohio laws but in some states it is illegal to manufacture certian knives.

Do a Google search for "Marlowe Badger flat ground" and you'll find the balisong I'd like someone to make a high-quality factory version of, with a tough steel. I couldn't bring myself to spend $1500 on the Marlowe Custom in 154CM.

Great collection welderknifenut! There is a lot to drool over in that post. That Samson ground weehawk is outstanding.

I wish I had never sold my 29 Knives balisong. That thing was so sweet. Excellent fit and finish, and that sweet sweet comfort only heavy metal can bring.

The Marlowe Badger is a great design. I am not the biggest fan of asymmetrical handles, but Marlowe knows how to design and ergonomic knife. I wish Benchmade still made the 53, it was one of his designs.
