Wild Steer Folder???

In my search for a super tough high-end folder, I ran across this video.

My recent want for an awesome folder has led me all over the place. I was really interested in Lion Steel SR-2 Sliepner Seel, Benchmade Osborne Barrage DR PT AXA in M390, and a ZT 0560 or 0561.

Now that I have seen the Wild Steer and how it seems to be bullet proof I am thinking this is the way I want to go, does any have any expierence out there with these brutes? How about the steel used?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and not much turned up in the search engine here on BF, and not much really out there anywhere on this blade.

I have one of the Wildsteer WX folders but don't use it. It has an insanely strong double lock that will NOT fail! It weighs a whopping 10 ounces and the X46Cr13 stainless steel blade is 4.7" long and 0.18" thick.

And all this time I thought Direware was leading the "I don't need a fixed blade, I'll show you..." category.

So is this a prototype or is this the final product? I've never held one in person but it looks like it would chew up your hand pretty good. Too many levers and sharp corners to really be practical for any extended cutting it seems by looking at pics. The more wood work I do the more the ergos of the handle trump the strength of the knife. I'd rather get a griptillian and work around it's weaknesses then have a hand full of blisters. Looks tough though and if that's the most important factor for you then it might be just the ticket. Maybe someone can chime in on the ergos.

It's slow and awkward to deploy for sure but once double-locked it doesn't budge. The finger groove is well-placed for a comfortable hold. However, remember everything is stainless steel so it's best to use a glove.

Final product, and if you watch the video in the first post, you can see the guy beats the crap out of the knife without any gloves.

Why for do you not use it? Collector piece?

Wildsteer WX has been on the market since around Summer/Fall 2012.

The guy did use the WX without gloves but since the handle is stainless steel it can get slippery. Also, it can get hot / cold. That's why I recommended a glove but perhaps should've said for extended use or based on conditions.

I bought sight unseen and when it arrived holly molly! Certainly weight is a factor. Also, 75% of the time I'm limited to a 3" folder/flipper. I just don't have a use for it but it's a great conversation piece.

and the X46Cr13 stainless steel blade is

Are you sure that isn't the steel the frame is made of? That is equivalent to 420 aka chinese mystery steel. The stuff that other companies use for frames and locks here in the US.

It would make it pretty tough though. Probably more bendy than breaking or snapping stuff off. I can see it.
