Does anybody know of a kydex sheath maker who makes a dangler? I definitely prefer dangler sheaths for outdoor use, especially when wearing a pack with a waist belt and would like a dedicated one, instead of my rigged up ones.

Also, has anybody made a hanger for their Moras? Something like a nylon webbing belt loop with a button for the Mora sheaths. If so, could you post a pic, because I'm trying to come up with a design.

Thanks in advance!

Mashed Cat does an awesome dangler setup, and steelnut and rainwalker both do nylon drop legs. I'm sure there are many others out there.

rksoon: Those sheaths are works of art. Do you know about how much they go for? My only worry is that I've heard that there is a problem with fold over kydex sheaths cracking at the stress point.

MustardMan: Thanks for the info. I'll look them up and see what they got. Do you have a Mashed Cat dangler? If so, do you have any pics?

The mashed cat dangler rig is something he literally JUST started selling - not many of them are out in the wild yet.

I bought a few kydex sheaths from Dave Brown a while back, but I do them all DIY now. They are ugly but get the job done.

I bought a Mashed Cat Dangler for my Bushwhacker Mistress. Works really well. One of these days I'll get a pic.

I would not worry too much about the fold over- I have been using my own fold over no rivet sheaths for neck knives for years without any problems (oilfield warehouse outdoors, everyday once I was on my butt all day log with 2 broken legs...), and some of them have been very thin kydex as well. Plus any maker worth his salt should consider cracking like you describe as a flaw and replace it if that happens.

I believe his sheaths run $85 for 5" and below. Worth the coin for me; I dislike good knives with crappy sheaths. As for the cracking, I've seen mention of it before here on this board, but I haven't experienced it myself yet (though I haven't used em for years yet like Cuts Like a Kris has). I hadn't thought to ask Mike about it, but I'm sure he'd discuss it with you if you contacted him.

BF member Kiah makes great two-piece kydex sheaths, and he can most likely make an integral webbing dangler (or something else) for you if you worked it out with him. A sheath he made for my 510:

ETA: Sort of what you asked in your OP, but without a button opening.

Thanks guys! Looks like there are some pretty good options out there.

I'm glad to hear that you guys haven't had problems with fold-overs cracking. All of my kydex is the 2-piece sandwich style but I like the more compact and lighter weight design of the fold overs.

j williams: Nice! I like the idea of the IWB loops. I might add those to my Kershaw Outcast sheath so it could be used with MOLLE to strap it to a pack. I also wear a lot of climbing pants with built in belts that don't come out, so this would work well for this application too.
