Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know about an upcoming field day at Indian Rock in Bristol, CT I'm hosting. I have a number of presenters and it is looking like it will be a great opportunity to see some serious skill up close. Here is the info from the event page on Facebook. The event runs from 10am to 3pm.

-Martial Arts with Sifu Christopher Smith of IMBCT

-Emergency Bike repairs with The Bikers Edge

-Yoga with Rebecca Ferarro of Breathe and Flow Yoga

Vern is doing a flint and steel demo. He'll be there.

Cool. Thinking about bring my bowdrill stuff to spin a few coals between eating apples and Marty's informative walks. Again for those reading this is serious fun with an opportunity to learn new things.

Here are some pics.

I soooooooooooooo wanted to win one of those Bark River knives but alas it wasn't to be.

My nephew's first Fint and Steel fire. Vern from Vern's F&S was there under a small tent because of the hard rain. His striker is easily on par with my custom ones. I purchased a complete set for my Uncle, a striker and English flint for myself and another striker and English flint plus leather bag for the nephew. Here is his first GO!

I put the camera down to make sure he didn't get burned as the bundle ignited. Notice the Bowdrill on the table. I spun a coal in the mud as the wind blown rain rolled over my set. Sycamore rocks. On the other hand failed with mullein on mullein.

The little guy's first Flint and Steel set. We added a tin, charcolth and jute. The English flint rock and striker are both LARGE. Great for little hands to keep away from the striking area.
