does anyone know of any good trusted wilderness survival schools or programs for teens in or around Connecticut? I am looking more towards focusing on actual wilderness survival than togetherness and spiritual things with big groups. any help is welcome.

Chabla,

While not located in CT, the Wilderness Learning Center (www.weteachu.com) is one in New England and not far from you. I even hear one of their instructors lives right in Hartford county (wink wink nudge nudge). What is your E-mail, we can work something out I'm sure.

Tell me what kind of program you want to run, where you plan on holding it, what timeframe, etc. etc. and I can start to put something together for you.

Capital Community College offers some programs and boot camps like wilderness program for troubled teens. They aim to teach kids and teens discipline, teamwork, and appreciation. The idea that a teen will realize the direction of his/her life is heading and be self-motivated for change is unlikely.

Hello Chabla,

I will highly recommend the Wilderness Learning Center. I went there a few years ago on their basic survival course and left there with a ton of knowledge, confidence, and friendships that I will hopefully have for life.

There are a few of us in CT and NY that get together to practice and learn skills. As long as you bring a parent or guardian you are more than welcome to join us some time.

We mostly get out around Fairfield or southern Litchfield counties.
