Some people enjoy reading the newspaper while sitting on the toilet. Others enjoy reading a magazine or a nice book. Then there are the people who enjoy utilizing this time to brush up on their survival skills. I happen to be one of the latter. Here is my latest creation, the toilet paper cordage!
It is ideal for practice your natural cordage making skills, and once created, it is great for practicing various types of knots. Once properly made, it is surprisingly strong. However, I must warn you, even the tiniest bit of water greatly reduces the structural integrity.
This particular piece of cordage was created by 8 sheets of 2-ply toilet paper of an unknown brand, and is about 12" long. While the exact strength measurement is unknown, I would estimate it is somewhere in the 15-20lb range, since it seems to be quite capable of supporting my 12lb backpack with all of my EDC items.
So the next time you are sitting in a restroom somewhere with nothing to do, remember this post, and start practicing your survival skills!
