I've been hearing the story since it happened. Rick works at Milne Point, Right? He and Jake have been mentioned in the safety meetings quite a bit, lots of folks up there concerned.

One helluva true grit story. Scary as hell reading it, could only imagine living it!

I'm glad Jakes recovering so steadily. He sounds like an incredibly strong person.

Best wishes for your family from one of the other corners of Wasilla!

Thanks for the best wishes, RWS...living in Texas, it always surprises me when people have heard about this. For all it's size, Alaska is a very tight knit place. It's been six months since the accident and Jake completed the season as assistant coach with the Wasilla Warriors. He continues to recover but still experiences some frustrations. I have to say that I've always looked up to my big brother, but never more than now. This spurs me on to improve my survival skills even though I live in the city. You never know when you may need them.
Peace,
Donna Mc

Hey Donna,

That was an incredible nail-biter of a story! Thanks for sharing! The other day, there was this "Survival-expert" on TV, saying that reminding yourself of an amazing survival-story can get you through harsh times. I think, for me, this is one of those stories...

Best wishes to Jake, Rick and yourself,

Gijs
