At last, wilderness survival & primitive skills trips are being conducted in the spectacular Idaho back country! These one week wilderness trips are being brought to you as a Joint Venture by two well known wilderness skills & survival instructors: RadioRay and Aboman! Students attending these summer trips will have the benefit of learning from TWO highly qualified instructors each of whom has a differing and complimentary approach to wilderness survival; giving attending students a broad variety of well organized training and practice of a broad variety of skills under actual wilderness conditions with experienced instructors.

As many of you know, I have been an instructor teaching wilderness skills with Hoods Woods for some years now. Because Ron & Karen Hood are no longer doing wilderness training trips; with their "blessing", I have started a Joint Venture with another well known wilderness instructor >>>Aboman<<< in Idaho to do just that. We are teaching students wilderness survival skills by taking them into the Idaho back country on one week trips. We are one of the few outfits licensed with the State to teach wilderness survival skills in the Idaho back country.

For those who don't know Ray, he and I had each others' sixes in some extreme conditions last June in Idaho. I would (and did) trust him with my life anyday, in any conditions. Ray is simply one of the most skilled wilderness practitioners I've ever had the pleasure of working with. His technical navigation skills with compass and GPS are the best I've seen, and his knowledge of primitive skills is stellar.

The thing with Ray is this: when something has to be made, done, fashioned, etc., he can jump right on it, because he can apply his skills instinctively -- even in an emergency. He will also teach you how to "think out of the box" in regard to improvising, and, combined with Aboman's primitive skills, you will get training that teaches you to think and act for yourself, and you can apply this anywhere in life. I have learned much from him, and look forward to other opportunities to have more adventures with him in the future.

I haven't had the opportunity to work with Aboman, but his reputation is solid as it gets, heard from people I trust to know these things. I know if Ray has teamed up with him, then that in itself speaks volumes about Aboman's character and abilities, because Ray is very picky...;) But that's precisely makes him so good at what he does...

Ray, and Aboman, I wish you all the best in your new venture!

Best,

Brian.

Thanks for the endorsement Brian! I definitely want to get back out in the bush again. I'm visiting down in Denver, getting things ready for the wedding and I'm ready to return to Idaho - anytime!!! :barf:

I've added a better pouch on my Chris Reeve since the last time that you saw it. You and that others might get a kick out of this.
---------------------
People have asked what I carry. Here it is. It's an OLD, South African made Chris Reeve (model unknown s/n # 161 "MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA") I happily bought during the U.S. embargo against South Africa back before the communists took over. (Israeli arms merchants can get you anything, MOSSAD people can get you more....) The sheath/system is home made.

Here's the picture:

I've skinned-out game, made shelters, made fires, constructed two storie tall, triangular antenna towers from arm sized bamboo (Arnold Schwartzenegger arms... )
It's been with me a long time.
