I have to admit, the Adirondacks has some surprisingly sophisticated beaver. ;-)

Where you on a paddling trip? That's a great area for canoeing!

This simply must be a poster! Perfect for us here in cottage country for sure. Great fun.

The cool thing about the internet is nobody knows you're a beaver.

Don't blow my cover, beaver dam it!

desmobob - I used to work in Raquette Lake and was just traveling through. That photo was taken of the swampy area on the left just before you enter town from Blue Mountain Lake. Its a GREAT area for canoeing. I've likely paddled 90% of the flat waters in the park. I spent my honeymoon on the Bog River Flow... been all over the St. Regis C.A. several times, .....and I've even done a bit of rock and roll creeking on the Hudson headwaters as well. That region was made for the canoe(or, more appropriately, the Adk guide boat).

I spent my honeymoon on the Bog River Flow...

Sounds like you found a wonderful wife!

My girlfriend and I spent a week last fall on the flow, and I'm itching to go back this spring!

Des. - ^^^ That entry from the dam is one of my favorite, albeit short, stretches of water. The weekend we were married, and began our honeymoon, was the same weekend that hurricane Juan roared up the US/Canadian east coast. We awoke after the first night out to a forest sheathed in ice, with the rising sun reflecting off every branch, leaf and needle..... amazing sight and sound! I'll see if I can dig up some photos.

That area must be special. When we left for our trip, the fall colors should have been peak at home (just two hours or so SW from the Bog River Flow area), but there was probably the least color I ever remember for that time. When we got to the Bog River, the colors were at their peak and SPECTACULAR. It made the trip even more memorable.

Looking down on the river from Low's Ridge:
