I have gleaned a lot of knowledge about Busse knives from the website so I have decided to give back. Posted below are just a few photographs of a large wildfire my crew and I worked on Saturday night this past weekend. I hope you enjoy the photos and if you have any questions about wildland firefighting I would be glad to TRY to answer them.

Buddy you be careful. And keep that sharp skinny ash ,,, real close,,, stay safe,, and I will leave firefighting to the pros!! Thanks for all you guys do,, j

That is a dangerous job for sure. Thanks for the pics. Looks like a backfire was set in that bottom photo?

Anyone else think the top pic has what looks to be a badly burned arm reaching out of the ground. Reminds me of a Night of the Living Dead poster.

Nice pics mate.

Jeremy,
The Skinny is with me everyday...scout style in that sheath you sent with it. I don't go anywhere without it. Now I just need an AK-47, ruck, nfbm, sar5, game warden, and a sarsquatch.

AR15
That was actually the fire working around the slope. We held on the bottom and top but the right flank just about ate the dozer. We finally whooped its butt though.

From the way the wind was blowing the fire, it kind of looked like you guys may have set a backfire. I worked for the FS in NC for awhile in my younger days, so I can definitely appreciate what you do. Fighting fire is extremely dangerous and tiring, a shift in the wind and things change quickly. My hat is off to you and everyone else who does this for a living.

fond memories... maintain good situational awareness and keep your eyes in the green.
What type of crew?

If we were mobilized we would be type II. I have 1 interim and 12 emergency workers on a hand a crew, and an interim and 2 emergencies on the dozer. We are usually the only crew on the fires we work...but with leaf blowers and a dozer we do pretty good at kicking its ash.:D
