Of course I go out and search for wildlife but sometimes they come to me ! I've come very close to having a bird strike with bald eagle and a vulture [I was driving my truck]. There are often deer and sometimes a bear come up to the house . Last night , getting up for some water , there was a snake in the kitchen ! I don't know what it was . About 15" long but only 1/4"diameter, black on top, yellow underneath .Anyone know ? And things that go bump in the night , we have those too !!

This evening I got something from my truck , turned around and there was a skunk a few feet away ! Fortunately looking for dinner not me !

I have had people all my life ask me about a snake and try to describe it. Then if I do locate the snake it was nothing like they said. Next time take a picture of it with your cell phone.

What part of the country do you live in? That might narrow it down to at least what spp are in your area.

The locastion data on the header of his post says he's from NY state like yours says your in McDonough , GA.

Northern ringneck snakes have a bright yellow to orange band
around their neck. They are dark or bluish gray, black or olive brown
on top with a bright orange or yellow underside. This snake has
smooth scales. The northern ringneck snake is a slender snake
that is usually less than 20 inches long. This snake is common in
Pennsylvania. However, it is not often seen because it is active at
night and rarely basks in the open. The northern ringneck snake
prefers moist forest habitats where it can hide beneath rocks
and logs. It primarily eats salamanders and earthworms. People
sometimes find northern ringneck snakes, especially newly born
snakes, in their basements. They rarely bite but may emit a
foul-smelling odor when they are handled.

There are many diiferent types but this one comes closer than any. I'm on the NY/PA border. Next time I'll tryto remember the camera .

I almost hit not one, not two, but THREE brown eagles last year. Came around a corner and scared them as they picked at some largish dead animal, and they all took off in my lane, going the same direction as me... but much slower.

I live in the suburbs. We have possums, raccoons, a rare snake, rabbits, and an occasional deer. Not very exciting for wildlife.

Lots of the usual around here, deer, fox, coyotes up in the woods behind our development. Sometimes I hear them howling at night. Its cool and kind of spooky at the same time. Had a bunch of raccoons in the attic one night. that was interesting.

I've hit two morning doves with my pickup, and nearly hit many others. I don't know if they can't see the big brown rolling death box bearing down on them or not, but I've had a ton of near misses.
