Anyone here have the set of replacement scales for a Benchmade Griptilian from Kevin Wilkins? If so, how do you like them? I've read some reviews on the Spyderco Leaf Storm that state the G10 slab has a very smooth texture, and I prefer a rougher texture, obviously for the grippy reason. Are the Wilkins Grips smooth, or a little rough?

Also, I've read that replacing the scales on the mini Grip is more difficult than on the full size. Any particular reason for this, or any tips on doing a mini Grip?

Share some photos if you have them!

I have a set of aluminum Wilkins grips, full size, so I can’t comment on the texture of the G-10 ones.
The dimples do a good job helping the traction on the aluminum ones, so I would guess that the G-10 slabs are pretty good in that respect.

The quality of the Wilkins handles is excellent. Fit and finish is perfect. The small, stock Griptilian liners seat tightly into the new slabs. They literally look like Benchmade manufactured them.

I put the set on my Ritter 552 and it totally transformed my knife.
If you ever used or handled the old Presidio 525/520 models, you know what solid knives they were. The Wilkins grips transform knives into these, without the pocket tearing grip pattern of the old Presidio.

With the WilkinsGrips, my Ritter 552 is now one of my top three folding knives, and I have some pretty good knives. It is probably my favorite heavy duty folder now.

If you can assemble/disassemble an Axis knife, then you should have no problem installing these yourself.

Mini-grips are a little bit harder because, well, they’re mini! Otherwise, everything is the same on the inside.

When I take apart a knife, especially for the first time, I section off a paper plate with a marker for right side-left side screws, washers, etc. That way I don’t mix anything up.
If you have a digital camera, pictures can prove invaluable in the process…..”where did this part go?”.

BTW, Moore Cutlery will install them for you at no charge if you buy them there.

There are several postings in BF with pics of Mini-grips with the Wilkins conversions. ‘Search’ is your friend.:) Youtube has some vids of these also.

Good luck.
