Does anyone have any of the WilkinsGrips? Are they worth the extra money? Show photos.
Thanks

Yes and yes. Completely transforms the knife from good to great.

I agree with Mike.
They turn the Axis model into a semi-custom.

However, Kevin Wilkins is re-designing them.
The new backspacer will have a lanyard hole, so, if this is important to you, wait for the new models.

I would love to change out the handle on my mini grip and the Wilkins grips look great, but I never liked how the spacer stuck out past the scales. Now hearing that the spacer is being redesigned, does any one know if that over hang is being fazed out?

If you look, the version 2 has the same overhang. http://www.wilkins-knives.com/griptilikins/griptilikins_e.html

I had some large orange scales for my M4 Ritter and sold them becuase I like the original handle shape and feel. Even being plastic, the grip handle is better feeling to me than the Wilkins grip....thats just me. I'd love a G10 handle in the shape of the original. That extra bump on the spacer is unnessisary and uncomfortable IMHO.

I don't mind the bump, I just would not like it to be aluminum. A G-10 spacer would be much better IMHO.

I'm gonna keep my scales stock for a little while. Until I find some interesting micarta material so that I can make a matching set of scales for my matching #'s. I'm gonna try using some standoffs and opening up the whole back side of the knife. I think the new scales will be much more like the original ones than the other ones I have made so far. I'm really diggin' the smaller size of the original design right now.

Thanks for the input. I think the mini grips are keeping the same design without the lanyard hole. The new mini Doug Ritter in M4 steel deserves the WilkinsGrips to make it a unique knife.

I love Wilkins Grips but also dislike the oversized spacer. So I made my own:

I liked mine, sold them for some reason.... more knives maybe?

The Wilkins gave the mini version more to hang on to which was very nice. The G11 was nicely finished, although I would rather them be a bit more grippy. My example was slick, which bothered me a little bit. Expensive, but it really does transform the knife for the better.

See that look so much better to me. I am going to be starting my first folder project soon maybe I will just order enough scale material to make new scales for my mini grip

That G10 spacer works for the Ti handle, but the black aluminum is where the screws tap into for the standard Wilkins grip. Not as easy to make unless you are okay with bare aluminum after sanding it down or can tap g10. G10 will strip over time, that is why Benchmade and Spyderco stopped threading g10.

The Jade G11 grips are the 'slickest' of the bunch, there are also medium and coarse grips. I picked up a set of the Ranger Green G10 grips in the coarse texture, and they are very 'grippy'.

Never had a problem with the spacer, I can't even really tell it is there when using the blade. Now the pocket clip, that is another story..... If that spacer bothers you, I bet the clip really gets in the way. :)

Amazing isn't it?:D

I wasn't planning on making the spacer out of G10, I was just going to get some aluminum stock and make it from that. home anodizing is fairly easy I have done it before with bike parts. when I get all the supplies together for the folder I am making I will check everything over and decide then if I have the skills to do the mini grip justice

I wish i had the money to throw out and get me a pair of those! I just got a set of orange scales in a trade and when i get home from college this summer i plan on putting them on. :)
