Thanks for this great knifescape -- info, intelligent discussions, everything I need. Does anyone know anything about Wilkinson Sword hunting knives? I can't find a single word on them anywhere on the net. I got one from my Gramps, but I don't think it's that old, maybe 30 years (?). The steel seems a touch soft and the blade has a very slight wow (warp) in it. Apart from that, and the ScotchBrite finish, the knife is in excellent condition (but, it may be an inferior product; I haven't a clue). Once I am more adept, I'll scan and post a pic.

Cheers,

Wilkinson Sword website at http://www.wilkinson-swords.com/ has fax and phone numbers - it might be worth asking them to help.

Great question! and welcome! I eagerly await input from others more knowledgeable than me, as I have seen the Wilkinson Crossed swords logo used on knives(and razor blades too,now thatI think about it)obviously
not made by them. I believe Camillus used the logo on some of their knives, with the words"sword brand" Did the Real Wilkinson Co. really even ever make any knives? or just licence out the crossed sword logo? is there no relation?

The silence was deafening, both electronically and vocally. E-mail and voice-mail produced nothing, and now their site is under construction. So I wait for the experts to tell me...

Cheers

This hunting knife is stamped with the British Royal Seal with "By appointment to her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II Royal Sword Cutters" and is made in England. The Wilkinson Crossed Swords and "Wilkinson Sword" name also appear. Still looking for a scanner...

Well, I have actually heard of a Wilkinson Sword-made "Survival knife" (those you keep things inside which handle). The design is indeed exotic....the tang weakness appears in most "Survival knife" seems to be defeated by their design! Combine with the reliability of "Sheffield Steel", it is something worth to be comsidered.....but not as a collector piece....as its look is quite far from handsome....
