I am getting a knife from J.Lile knives, the knife I am getting is the "Combat" model, hollow handle, like the Rambo but without the sawteeth, anyhow, it is 3/16 width instead of 1/4" will this affetc the performance of my knife?

Thanks,

It will be lighter and should slice a little better. I'm not sure about the length of this knife, but the 'ideal' blade thickness depends on the length of the knife, its profile (distal and tang tapers), it's intended uses, and YOUR preferences. There seems to be a trend back towards thinner blade stock recently. I think this is a good thing.

I like 1/8 in knives under 4 inches. 5/32 or 3/16 for blade lengths of 4 to 6 inches. And 3/8 - 1/4 in longer blades. Although I do have smaller knives in 3/16. It all depends. Don't worry about it too much.
