will a buck 110 patina?

After about forty years my blade has a light even gray tone to it compared to a new one. (A very light gray tone probably due to wear:D).

As a basic rule of thumb carbon steel develops a patina.

If you want to do it for cosmetic reasons, you could acid-etch it as an alternative...

I have a 30+ yr old #110 whose blade finish looks the same as when I got it. This knife was carried mostly in the midwest through all 4 seasons daily and used on a horse ranch. It has been retired for quite a while and spends all of its time in the sheath (I know, not the greatest environment...).
