Will a good sheath make the difference?

I got an Esee 5 as a wedding gift over a year ago but how little I carry it bugs me...a lot. I bring it with me, in my bag all over-camping, cabin, work(fishing guide) but I rarely actually carry it because of the clip. I am a big fan of Esee and use my izula much more often. I have looked into custom sheaths for the 5 but haven't actually bought any. I'm wondering if a cross draw sheath which carries both my izula and 5 ( and since the 5 is such a beast and I have spent unplanned nights in the bush, perhaps some survival/fire kit) on a separate belt will make carrying the 5 easier. Any other method suggestion is appreciated. Please let me know what works for you because I hate having a knife and not using it...and it's a gift so I can never give it away so how can I make carrying it more practical?? I am an adult full time student so I still have to pay my mortgage and all that jazz while trying to take care of business so I am looking for the best option(if any) for carrying my 5, I will spend the money on a quality product but want to make the best informed decision. Or, is this just gonna stay as my backyard fire prep queen? Thanks for any suggestions

The 5 is a great little knife! I've made more sheaths for that knife than the 6 of all things. But I do love to have at least one really stout knife with me at all times, and the five fits that bill so well.

Piggybacking the five and Izula is a great idea, I've done a few of those as well, the combo fills the chopper/slicer bill very nicely.

My five is one of the first few that came with that really nice cordura sheath, I wish they would have been able to stick with that as it was an ideal rig. But that does not discount a really nice kydex or leather piggyback sheath to fit your needs. There are quite a few makers that are very reasonable in their pricing in both arenas, and most will work with you on the money as well.

Good luck! And please do show off your new rig when you get it! :D

Thanks for the prompt response. Nice little knife it is...
I have visited your website numerous times in my searches, we will have to talk. I'm hoping a new sheath and system will make me carry it more...not used to carrying knives of that weight. I'll check out your site and send you an email there, guess that's the best way to get a hold of you? thanks again

I want to carry and use this knife more often but just don't find it practical. Can you make suggestions based on my description or still too vague?

I have attached my izula to my 5 but that just means I carry my izula less...

Sorry I missed you last night, I had moved on.

The weight is a concern, but its not too heavy to carry. I'd go with a lower carry, say 3/4 to low ride.

You can have your Izula sheath made where its detachable, then you can have your cake and eat it too. :) This goes for both leather and kydex.

Thanks again, I'm going to email you through your website so we can talk about some details.
