Hello all, I have read alot of posts where some of you guys can get a knife to push cut news print several inches away from your hands, I have a delica vg-10 that I purchased, the edge seems to be at 20 dps. I can get this knife to push cut computer paper close to my hand but not news print. To achive this would the angles have to be reduced for example 30 degrees (15) dps or can this sharpness level be achieved even at 20 dps.

Thanks for any info

Not sure about the newsprint cutting but the Delicas, and most of my other Spydies, I have were sharpened closer to 30 degrees included than 40.

If you spend the time to form the edge properly you can get it to pushcut newsprint and shave at a coarse finish. If you are using a sharpmaker it should be popping hairs with the medium finish. The more you polish it the better it will pushcut, but the worse it will slice. I would definately recommend reprofiling to 15 per side or less for better cutting ability, unless you are cutting a lot of metals or other heavy duty stuff.

Thanks for the info guys. I spent some time on getting the edges even and she is shaving sharp now. I have the combo Blade & it was nowhere near 15dps.

Cheers.

Sorry Applejacks, I don't understand.

Bas Rutten is one of the funnier, tuffer MMA fighters on the planet. If you watch Pride fighting he's (still?) one of the announcers. He's originally from Holland IIRC.
