Lately at work when I get a lot of gunk on my blade, I put some acetone on a rag, and clean all the gunk off. It doesn't seem like it is hurting my blade, through the spyderco logo on the blade isn't black anymore. I was just wondering if it is causing any damage to my knife.

NO, other then possibly remove inks or logo's as you have experienced.

The logo is laser eched and shouldn't be affected, could be that you just removed an oil layer. Try wiping the blade down with just a little bit of oil and see if the logo get black again.

Most of the time you don't need a solvent quite that HOT to clean your blades. I use 91% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol most of the time with great success. There have only been 2 times I got something on my blades to where I needed a hotter solvent. Then I used Laquer Thinner which still is not as hot as ACETONE.

One sidenote is that ACETONE is a very dangerous and highly flamible/explosive chemical. It is a super solvent but I would always be wearing neoprene gloves and being outdoors when using it.

Also there was one time I got some Tar-like substance on one of my knives and Mineral Spirits ( paint thinner) worked great getting it off.
